From a young age, the individual had a clear desire to pursue a career in the medical field and make a positive impact on patients’ lives. This passion was sparked by witnessing their father’s recovery from a herniated disc without surgery during their teenage years, which led them to choose the path of Physical Therapy. Following their education at the College of Charleston, they furthered their studies at the Medical University of SC.
Over the course of their 16-year career as a Physical Therapist, they have gained valuable experience in various settings, including orthopedics, home health, and acute neurological rehabilitation. This diverse background has provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the interconnectedness of the body’s systems. Additionally, the individual’s own health struggles, specifically being diagnosed with endometriosis, have deepened their understanding of chronic illness and its impact on one’s life.
Motivated by their personal experiences, they embarked on a journey to explore alternative treatments for their diagnosis. Through extensive research, they discovered the importance of diet and lifestyle in managing symptoms and treating chronic diseases. This newfound knowledge led them to become certified as a health coach, specializing in anti-inflammatory diets and food sensitivity research. They also pursued further education in women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction, becoming one of only two physical therapists in South Carolina certified in hypopressive therapy known as Low Pressure Fitness.
Now deeply passionate about pelvic health and women’s health, the individual aims to empower every woman who seeks their help. They utilize an integrated approach that combines lifestyle modifications, nutrition, and hands-on therapy to equip their patients with the knowledge and tools needed to overcome any challenges they may face. It is with this vision in mind that they established Elevated Physical Therapy, a clinic dedicated to providing a more holistic and integrated approach to treating women’s health issues.
The individual holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the College of Charleston (1999) and a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the Medical University of SC (2002). They are also a Credentialed Clinical Instructor with the American Physical Therapy Association, a Certified Low Pressure Fitness Specialist (2018), and a Certified Health Coach (2017).
