Tara, the owner of Desert Physical Therapy and Pelvic Health, boasts an impressive 16 years of clinical experience in addressing pelvic floor dysfunction in both men and women. She obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T Still University, equipping her with extensive knowledge and empathy towards the emotional and psychological challenges that often accompany such dysfunctions. Tara’s personal journey with pelvic floor dysfunction, combined with her family background in healthcare, particularly in women’s health, obstetrics, and gynecology, further fuel her passion for revolutionizing the recovery process for individuals suffering from low back, hip, and pelvic floor injuries.
Tara’s approach to rehabilitation involves innovative education, evidence-based techniques, advanced manual therapy methods, and specialized return-to-fitness programs. She places great emphasis on integrating diaphragm and pelvic floor functionality into core strengthening and stability programs. To enhance her expertise, Tara is also a registered yoga therapist and is trained in myofascial release, intramuscular dry needling, cupping, advanced manual therapy techniques, visceral mobilizations, biofeedback, and therapeutic exercise.
Tara’s specialization lies in treating various pelvic floor conditions, including trauma-related pain, infections, post-surgical complications, dyspareunia (painful sex), as well as stress and urge incontinence, interstitial cystitis, chronic prostatitis, and post-prostatectomy dysfunction in men. Outside of her work at the office, Tara devotes her time to her loved ones and indulges in outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and various forms of exercise.
