Sydney holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. She is also a certified Health Fitness Instructor/Personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. Sydney furthered her education by obtaining a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree at A.T. Still University in Arizona.

Sydney is not only dedicated to her profession, but she also has a strong passion for athletics. She actively competes in half and full Ironman triathlons and enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities. Sydney is thrilled to serve the greater Seattle area, as well as Portland, Newberg, OR, and Hillsboro, OR. She will be joining the team at Sage Physical Therapy.

For the past eight years, Sydney has specialized in orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapy in the Portland, OR area. Now, she is excited to bring her expertise to the Seattle community. Sydney’s personal background includes playing college basketball for a year and coaching high school basketball. She also participated in competitive volleyball at the club level. Currently, Sydney dedicates her training to triathlons, specifically half and full Ironman races.

Furthermore, Sydney has a keen interest in running gait analysis, utilizing slow-motion video technology to evaluate clients of all ages and abilities. She has experience working with junior high and high school athletes, as well as recreational and avid athletes. Sydney helps these individuals improve their running form, efficiency, and recover from soft tissue strains, sprains, surgeries, and overuse-related injuries. She is also competent in water running technique and has programmed water running programs for clients recovering from surgery or other injuries, allowing them to maintain their cardiovascular fitness specific to running while reducing ground reaction forces.

Sydney’s extensive knowledge extends to urinary stress incontinence in female athletes and runners. She is STOTT Pilates rehabilitation certified for mat and reformer equipment. Additionally, Sydney has practiced yoga for over 15 years and is familiar with various regimes, including Tai chi, Barre, kettlebell training, TRX training, body rolling/foam rolling, spinning, and bike fit mechanics. She excels in anaerobic cardiovascular training and building muscular power to integrate with running.

In terms of therapy techniques, Sydney is proficient in taping techniques and utilizes IASTM, joint mobilizations, myofascial release, lymphatic taping and massage, deep tissue mobilization, connective tissue mobilization for visceral fascia, scar tissue mobilization, and internal pelvic floor muscle release in both men and women. She also has experience with mindfulness-based treatment for chronic pain, chronic pain education, and coaching for behavioral change.

Beyond her professional life, Sydney enjoys paddleboarding, hiking, sailing, and embracing a food-as-medicine approach to eating and cooking. She also takes time for weekly mindfulness progressive muscle relaxation work, emphasizing the importance of self-care.
