Starla Denton PT, MHS, PRPC is a highly skilled physical therapist specializing in Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. In 1987, Starla earned her BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Central Arkansas. She furthered her education in 1997, completing her Post Professional Masters of Health Science Physical Therapy degree from Krannert Graduate School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis.
Starla’s journey into Pelvic Health began in 1995 when she took the course, “Pelvic Floor Function, Dysfunction, and Treatment” taught by Hollis Herman and Kathe Wallace. Motivated by her newfound interest, she pursued additional training in Pelvic Health PT through the American Physical Therapy Association Academy of Pelvic Health and obtained the CAPP-Pelvic Certificate. Starla’s expertise in the field was acknowledged with the prestigious Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC).
In 1995, Starla developed the Women’s Health Physical Therapy program at St. Bernard’s Regional Hospital, focusing on the treatment of urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, prenatal and postnatal Physical Therapy. With time, the program expanded to include pelvic Physical Therapy for men as well. Currently, Starla is the proud owner of Pelvic Floor and Core Physical Therapy of Jonesboro, LLC, an outpatient clinic dedicated to Pelvic Health Rehabilitation. The clinic provides specialized care for women, men, and children with pelvic floor dysfunction.
Not only does Starla excel in her clinical practice, but she also shares her knowledge and expertise with aspiring physical therapists. She serves as an adjunct instructor at Arkansas State University, teaching an elective in Women’s Health to 3rd year Doctoral Physical Therapy students. Additionally, Starla acts as a Clinical Instructor, guiding Doctoral students in her clinic.
Starla’s contributions to the field have been recognized by professional organizations. She has actively participated in the Arkansas Physical Therapy Association, receiving the Professional Development award in 1997. Furthermore, Starla served on the Arkansas State Physical Licensure Board from 1997 to 2003. She is a valued member of the American Physical Therapy Association Academy of Pelvic Health and The National Vulvodynia Association.
Throughout her career, Starla has demonstrated a deep passion for helping individuals suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction. Her dedication led her to establish her own clinic, Pelvic Floor and Core Physical Therapy of Jonesboro, LLC, with a mission to raise awareness about the benefits of Physical Therapy for treating Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. She aims to create a safe space for those experiencing pelvic pain and dysfunction to share their stories. One of Starla’s greatest rewards is being able to listen to her patients’ stories and provide them with hope and healing for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.
