Dr. Lindsay Backiev, PT, DPT (she/her), is an accomplished graduate of the University of Southern California, where she obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Her exceptional performance in academic coursework, clinical practice, and scientific research earned her the prestigious Order of the Golden Cane, the highest honor bestowed by the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy.

As a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, Dr. Backiev employs a comprehensive approach, incorporating movement analysis and evidence-based practices in collaboration with patients of all ages to enhance their function, mobility, and achieve their individual goals. To further enhance her professional expertise, she has completed coursework through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and IPC – Integrated Pelvic Care. Her commitment to advancing her field led her to establish the pelvic health physical therapy program at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.

Recently, Dr. Backiev joined the esteemed team at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, where she provides specialized care to patients with orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapy needs. In addition to her clinical work, she is an active member of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Sexual Orientation and Gender Identities (SOGI) Task Force, dedicating her efforts to advocating for patient-centered care for LGBTQIA+ individuals and addressing trauma within healthcare settings.

Drawing from her previous experience as a professional dancer, Dr. Backiev has developed a keen interest in performing arts physical therapy, youth athletics, and movement disorders. Within the realm of pelvic health, her particular interests lie in transgender care and male pelvic pain. Her multifaceted background and commitment to excellence make her a valuable asset to the field of physical therapy.
