Lee Sowada grew up in Wyoming, where her passion for dance and tennis blossomed. Pursuing her interests, she pursued a major in Dance at Colorado State University and obtained a certification in Classical Pilates. However, her path took an unexpected turn when she discovered her love for pelvic rehab during a “Women’s Health” clinical rotation in her third year of PT school at Pacific University near Portland, Oregon. Eager to expand her knowledge, she sought opportunities to learn and grow in this specialty.
Her first job after completing physical therapy school proved to be the perfect fit. Lee joined Pelvic Therapy Specialists, where she worked alongside experienced pelvic rehab clinicians and received extensive mentorship, resembling a residency program. Additionally, she worked at Blue Sky Physical Therapy in Denver, where she had the chance to continue teaching Pilates and incorporate it into her practice. Seeking to enhance her skills, she attended various courses, including Herman and Wallace, Maitland, IAOM, and dry needling.
Recently, Lee decided to move back to Wyoming to be closer to her family. She now practices in an outpatient setting, bringing pelvic rehab to a more rural community where many people were unaware of its existence. Lee finds great fulfillment in providing care and raising awareness about this specialized field. In her personal life, she cherishes her time with her husband, their dog named Sartorius (after her favorite muscle), and their two children, Sloan and Coen.
