Lauren Rose, the owner of Physiotherapy New Mexico, boasts an impressive 30 years of experience in manual therapy. For the past 26 years, she has been working as a physical therapist in private practice in Santa Fe. Prior to obtaining her master’s degree in physical therapy, Lauren spent a decade as a neuromuscular therapist. Following four years in orthopedic rehabilitation at Saint Vincent’s Hospital, she took the initiative to establish Physiotherapy New Mexico LLC.
Physiotherapy New Mexico LLC is dedicated to the treatment of pelvic dysfunction in both male and female patients, chronic pain, visceral adhesions, temporal mandibular dysfunction, and all orthopedic issues. Lauren Rose holds various certifications, including trigger point dry needling, neuromuscular therapy, Egoscue, and kinesio taping. Additionally, she teaches courses such as The Internal Work, which covers intravaginal and intrarectal manipulation, and Stromatics I and II, which focus on visceral mobilization. Lauren is actively involved in the Santa Fe community, leading ongoing visceral and neural study groups and providing private tutoring and mentoring for students in manual technique.
Lauren Rose’s treatment philosophy centers around the belief that the body is a complex and interconnected system. With trillions of cells forming tissues and organs, the body’s networks interact and communicate with one another. As a therapist, Lauren sees herself as a facilitator in this intricate system, aiming to help the body function optimally. Her passion for the body and manual medicine began during her time as a jewelry designer in Boston. Feeling a strong desire to be of service, she pursued studies in Touch for Health and has since dedicated herself to learning about anatomy and manual medicine.
Unlike many practitioners who specialize in specific areas of the body, Lauren believes that manual medicine requires a comprehensive understanding of the biological conversation between different systems and their interdependencies. By evaluating mechanical restrictions, she gains insights into systemic anatomy and dysfunction. For example, pelvic pain may not necessarily originate from the pelvis itself. If a therapist is only familiar with the anatomy below the navel, they may offer limited help if the issue is cranial. Each patient presents Lauren with a unique puzzle to solve, and she approaches each case as an adventure. Her goal is to restore lost or diminished mobility in the system, whether it’s addressing issues with visceral fluidity in the liver or increasing neural slide and glide for a rotator cuff injury.
Throughout her career, Lauren Rose has pursued various certifications and engaged in ongoing studies to expand her knowledge and skills. She is currently developing new courses on men’s pelvic health and the vagus nerve. She has also developed, taught, and written manuals for courses such as Stromatics I and II, The Internal Work-Vaginal and Rectal Mobilization, and more. Additionally, she has studied with renowned experts in craniosacral therapy, neural manipulation, visceral manipulation, and urogenital manipulation.
In terms of employment, Lauren has been the CEO and physical therapist at Physiotherapy New Mexico LLC since 1997, specializing in chronic pain, visceral, myofascial, cranial, temporomandibular, and pelvic floor disorders. She has also worked as a teaching assistant for The Barral Institute, an exercise instructor at El Gancho, and a private tutor in manual therapy. Prior to establishing her own practice, she served as a staff physical therapist at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.
Lauren Rose is an active member of professional organizations such as The International Pelvic Pain Society, The Interstitial Cystitis Association, and The American Physical Therapy Association. Her commitment to continuous learning and providing holistic, comprehensive care sets her apart as a highly skilled and dedicated practitioner.
