Dr. Lauren, a skilled and compassionate physical therapist, holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Governors State University and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Northwestern University. Before entering the field of physical therapy, Dr. Lauren dedicated herself to counseling at-risk youth who had experienced sexual violence, providing support to those dealing with suicidal and homicidal thoughts. In 1999, she became a certified medical and legal advocate for survivors of sexual assault, advocating for over 130 individuals of all ages in the emergency department.
Dr. Lauren has obtained several specialty certifications in physical therapy, including Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), Pelvic Rehabilitation Professional Certificate (PRPC), and Certified Yoga Therapist (CYT). Her expertise has led her to become a board member of prestigious organizations such as the Chicagoland Pelvic Floor Research Consortium, the American Physical Therapy Association Section of Women’s Health, and the Section of Oncology. Additionally, she serves as adjunct faculty at Governors State University, teaching Special Topics: Pelvic Rehabilitation Physical Therapy.
Currently, Dr. Lauren works at the University of Chicago, providing essential services in pelvic rehabilitation, lymphedema management, and oncological physical therapy within Therapy Services and the Center of Supportive Oncology. Her areas of focus include treating pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, bowel dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, lymphedema, lymph node transfer/bypass, stem cell transplant, and addressing the bowel, bladder, sexual, and functional concerns of patients undergoing HIPEC (hyperthermal intraperitoneal chemotherapy). In recognition of her outstanding work, Dr. Lauren was honored as a Fellow of the Chicago Trauma Collective in 2017.
