Katie Segner is a Licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified mat-based Pilates Instructor who works at Peterson Health in Kerrville, TX. She is based in a hospital-affiliated outpatient rehab clinic that offers a variety of multidisciplinary treatments. While Katie primarily focuses on women’s health and pelvic health patients, she also provides care to individuals with neurologic and orthopedic conditions.
After becoming a mother three years ago, Katie developed a special interest in women’s health and pelvic health rehab, particularly in prenatal and postpartum care. In early 2022, she received training in internal pelvic floor examination and treatment, allowing her to offer comprehensive interventions for a range of pelvic health conditions. These include urinary incontinence, constipation, vaginismus, dyspareunia (pain with intercourse), pelvic pain, low back pain, sacroiliac joint pain/dysfunction, pubic symphysis dysfunction, diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA), pelvic organ prolapse, core weakness, preparation for labor and delivery, return to running training postpartum, post cesarean scar massage, and perineal tear scar massage.
Katie’s professional journey began with a double major in Animal Science and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University in 2013. She then pursued her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with clinical distinction in 2016. In 2020, she became a Certified mat Pilates instructor through Balanced Body. Currently, she teaches a group mat Pilates class once a week at The Center for Fitness in Kerrville, TX.
Outside of her career, Katie is a devoted mother to her two beautiful daughters, aged 3 and 11 months. While motherhood holds a special place in her heart, she is equally passionate about her role as a PT. Katie takes great joy in teaching mothers and women of all ages about mindful movement, helping them restore their core and achieve their highest quality of life through exercise and education.
