Katie Hughes, originally from Dallas, TX, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who is passionate about treating patients of all ages. She has experience working in various orthopedic settings in Atlanta, Alaska, and Boston. Katie believes in providing individualized care based on each patient’s specific lifestyle and interests. She encourages patients to take an active role in their treatment and enjoys helping them regain their functionality and return to what matters most to them.
Katie’s treatment approach combines hands-on care with targeted exercises to improve body mechanics and restore function. She has received additional training in Pilates, personalized blood flow restriction, gait mechanics, prenatal and postpartum exercises, and manual therapy. Katie is also T1 certified through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) to screen golfers and identify biomechanical limitations. While dry needling for myofascial pain is not currently allowed under the State of Oregon’s physical therapy practice guidelines, she holds a certification in this technique.
In the future, Katie plans to pursue further certification in orthopedics and manual therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas Tech University in 2012, followed by her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Emory University School of Medicine in 2015.
Outside of her work, Katie enjoys watching football, hiking, fly fishing, exploring new places with her three-legged dog named Taylor Mayd, and trying out new recreational activities.
