Karen Weeks graduated with a degree in Biology- Pre-Med from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1997. She then went on to complete her graduate work in Physical Therapy at Midwestern University in 2000. Over the course of almost two decades, Karen has gained experience in various areas of Outpatient Orthopedics, including Sports Medicine and Spinal Rehabilitation. However, for the past 13 years, she has focused exclusively on Women’s and Men’s Health Rehabilitation.

Throughout her career, Karen has worked at several reputable institutions, including West Suburban’s Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Center, Urological Specialists, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and Florendo Physical Therapy. In 2009, she became one of the first clinicians to receive her ABPTS Board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy. Additionally, she holds a CAPP (Certificate in Pelvic Physical Therapy) Certification from the Section on Women’s Health and is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist.

Currently, Karen practices at the Integrated Pelvic Health Program at Northwestern. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, she collaborates with Urogynecologists, Urologists, and Colo-Rectal Surgeons. She plays a crucial role in the PEAPOD (Peripartum Evaluation and Assessment of the Pelvic Floor around Delivery) specialty clinic, which focuses on the recovery of Post-Partum Women, particularly those who have experienced third and fourth-degree perineal lacerations during delivery.

Karen’s main areas of interest lie in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in women and men with Chronic Pelvic Pain, Vulvodynia, Urinary and Bowel Dysfunction, Sacro-Iliac Dysfunction, and Pregnancy-Related/Post-Partum Rehabilitation. She actively participates in the Section on Women’s Health and serves as the Illinois State Representative for the organization. Karen also maintains active membership in the American Physical Therapy Association, Illinois Physical Therapy Association (Easter District Assembly Representative), American Urogynecologic Society, and the Chicagoland Pelvic Floor Research Consortium.
