Dr. Julie Sarton, a leading expert in pelvic floor health, is the founder of Sarton Physical Therapy. Established in 2011, the clinic aims to provide hope and healing to individuals suffering from various forms of pelvic floor dysfunction and pain. Driven by a vision of delivering the best possible care, Sarton Physical Therapy has experienced rapid growth, attracting patients from all over the United States and even internationally. Dr. Sarton is a trailblazer in her field, having been part of the inaugural class of physical therapists to obtain advanced board-certification in women’s health. With over 20 years of experience, she has successfully treated numerous complex patients, both men and women. Throughout her career, Dr. Sarton has collaborated closely with renowned physicians and physical therapists specializing in pelvic floor dysfunction. Her expertise has been recognized through professional speaking engagements at esteemed institutions such as The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The Society for Urodynamics and Urology, The American Urogynecologic Society, UC Irvine, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Loma Linda University.
Dr. Sarton holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University and earned her doctorate from Creighton University in 1996, as part of the nation’s inaugural doctorate program in physical therapy. She is a published author, with her work appearing in prestigious peer-reviewed journals including The Journal of Sexual Medicine, The Female Patient, and Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Sarton received the “Rising Star in Medicine” Award from Women Sage in 2006. Her expertise in pelvic pain has led to appearances on The Discovery Health Channel’s Berman and Berman show, as well as features in the Orange County Register.
Dr. Sarton’s commitment to advancing the field extends beyond her clinical work. She co-founded the Pelvic Floor Sexual Medicine conference, which brings together practitioners in Southern California specializing in pelvic floor disorders. Additionally, she is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Pelvic Pain Society, the Interstitial Cystitis Association, The American Physical Therapy Association, The American Urogynecologic Society, and the National Vulvodynia Association.
