Dr. Ijeoma Nwankpa is a highly qualified doctor of physical therapy specializing in women’s and men’s pelvic health. She is certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists in Women/Men Pelvic Health (WCS), and is also a Certified Lymphedema Physical Therapist (CLT) and certified in Dry Needling (CIDN). As the owner of the Center of Pelvic Excellence Physical Therapy (COPE PT), Dr. Nwankpa is dedicated to providing inclusive and compassionate care, as well as knowledge and education on pelvic health and lymphedema to promote optimal recovery for her patients.
In addition to her professional work, Dr. Nwankpa is actively involved in various outreach organizations and charities. She is a wife and mother to two boys, and enjoys spending quality time with her family. Her interests include cooking, traveling, reading, and meeting new people.
Dr. Nwankpa’s passion for pelvic health stems from her personal experience with endometriosis. After undergoing surgeries and treatments, she still experienced pelvic and lower abdominal pain. It was through the care of a pelvic health physical therapist that she discovered the power of self-care skills and saw significant improvement in her symptoms. This experience inspired her to become a Pelvic Health PT and empower her patients by teaching them about their bodies and ways to recover from various issues, including urinary and bowel problems, pre/postpartum care, and constipation. Dr. Nwankpa aims to be the provider who reassures her patients that their pain is not all in their heads.
Dr. Nwankpa holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Clarkson University, which she obtained in 2013. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Columbus State University in 2010. She has also pursued post-doctoral training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is currently working towards becoming a certified Sexuality Counselor through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) at the University of Michigan.
