Heather Edwards, a skilled pelvic Physical Therapist, works at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She earned her BS in Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2001, followed by a Masters in Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in 2003. Heather is dedicated to expanding her knowledge and expertise in her field. She has successfully completed the American Physical Therapy Association Section on Women’s Health series of Pelvic Floor 1, 2, and 3. Additionally, she is currently pursuing certification in sexuality counseling and sexuality education through the University of Michigan, with expected completion in March 2018.

With over 15 years of experience, Heather has been a valuable member of the Haywood Regional Medical Center team since 2003. While she previously had a private practice in Asheville called Resilient Pelvic Healing from 2016-2017, she is currently taking a break from private practice. In the community, Heather is known for hosting a monthly, inclusive sexual health discussion forum called Vino & Vulvas in Asheville.

As a pelvic PT, Heather demonstrates a deep passion for helping individuals of all genders with a variety of conditions such as sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain, urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, back pain, and hip pain. She is actively leading a research team to assess the specific pelvic health needs of transgender individuals. She takes pride in providing an LGBTQIA affirming, kink informed, trauma informed, and sex positive environment for her patients.
