Evelyn Hecht, PT, ATC, is a highly accomplished professional with extensive experience in the field of physical therapy. She holds a BS degree in Physical Education with a minor in Athletic Training from Brooklyn College, as well as a BS degree in Physical Therapy from Hunter College. With over 25 years of practice, Evelyn specializes in treating chronic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, orthopedics, and spine conditions such as neck and low back pain.
Evelyn’s interest in pelvic floor dysfunction began two decades ago, at a time when the field was not widely recognized as a medical specialty. Through her dedicated work, Evelyn has helped numerous patients achieve reduced pelvic pain and improve their bladder, sexual, and bowel function using manual, biofeedback, and movement therapies. Recognizing the need to advance knowledge in this area, she designed the first accredited course in pelvic floor dysfunction for both N.Y.U. and Stony Brook Universities. For seven years, she taught these courses to Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) candidates, contributing to the awareness of pelvic floor dysfunction among patients and referring physicians. Today, the field of pelvic health is flourishing across the country and around the world.
In 2014, Evelyn collaborated with one of her healed pelvic patients to develop an app called PelvicTrack, which is currently available for free on the iTunes Store. This app serves as a valuable resource for individuals suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction, providing Evelyn’s tips, self-help techniques, and over 30 exercises to aid in their recovery.
Evelyn’s dedication to helping patients with chronic pain led her to write and launch her eBook, titled re.lieve Solutions for Chronic Pain, in 2018. This comprehensive resource teaches patients suffering from various forms of chronic pain about the empowering science of pain and provides a daily program of evidence-based self-help techniques. By retraining the brain and reducing hypersensitivity of the nervous system, these techniques result in decreased pain. Many pain organizations have recognized the value of Evelyn’s eBook and feature it as a resource on their websites for patients and caregivers.
Through her extensive expertise, Evelyn Hecht has made significant contributions to the field of physical therapy, particularly in the areas of chronic pain management and pelvic floor dysfunction. Her innovative approaches and commitment to patient care have positively impacted countless individuals seeking relief and improved quality of life.
