Dr. Rachel Herron, a distinguished graduate of Pacific University’s Physical Therapy program, excelled academically and held the esteemed position of Class President. Throughout her time at the university, Dr. Herron displayed her passion for pelvic health by working as a research assistant in the field. Additionally, she co-founded The Collective for Diversity and Social Justice, a student-led group dedicated to combating systemic health disparities.
In recognition of her exceptional character, academic achievements, commitment to social justice, and community involvement, Dr. Herron was honored with the American Physical Therapy Association Minority Scholarship Award and the Physical Therapy Programs Outstanding Graduate Award in 2020. Before attending Pacific University, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish and Kinesiology. During her time at Colorado College, Dr. Herron also showcased her leadership abilities as the Captain of her Division I soccer team. This experience provided her with valuable insights into the human body, enabling her to empathize with patients’ adversities and effectively treat athletes of all ages.
Beyond her expertise as an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, Dr. Herron also specializes in Pelvic Health Physical Therapy and is a certified Reiki practitioner. She places great emphasis on trauma-informed care and is deeply passionate about mental health, sexual wellness, and sports injury recovery. Dr. Herron has further honed her skills through additional training in Visceral Manipulation (VM1) at the Barrall Institute.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Herron actively engages with her community. She is a proud member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the National Association of Black Physical Therapists. Since 2020, Dr. Herron has served as the Chair of the American Physical Therapy Association Washington State Chapter Committee for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging. Her dedication to addressing health disparities and her involvement in the community earned her the prestigious American Physical Therapy Association Washington State Chapter Physical Therapist of the Year Award in 2022.
In her leisure time, Dr. Herron cherishes moments spent watching Disney and Marvel movies with her family. She also enjoys road biking, hiking, and coaching soccer. Additionally, she finds solace in the company of her beloved pups, Shelby and Luca.
