Dr. McGee has been the director of the Anorectal Physiology lab for Ohio Valley Colon & Rectal Surgery in Wheeling, WV since 2003. He received his medical training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before joining the team at Ohio Valley Colon & Rectal Surgery. With a PhD in Neurophysiology and a doctorate in physical therapy, Dr. McGee is highly qualified in his field. He is board certified in pelvic floor dysfunction and biofeedback.

Dr. McGee has made significant contributions to the field of anorectal physiology, having authored numerous scientific articles and presented his research at various conferences. In fact, he holds a US patent in biochemistry. The lab he currently runs is the only Anorectal Physiology Lab in the state of West Virginia.

Dedicated to providing excellent patient care, Dr. McGee sees patients four days a week and performs thousands of procedures each year. He has developed his own protocols for conducting Anorectal exams, ensuring accurate and comprehensive evaluations.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. McGee has collaborated with industry leaders such as Sandhill Scientific and Konigsberg Instruments. He has served in an advisory capacity for Sandhill Scientific for several years and recently worked with Konigsberg Instruments on manometry probe design changes.

Dr. McGee’s expertise extends to the treatment of various functional bowel problems, including fecal incontinence, fecal urgency, chronic constipation, outlet obstructions, and anal stenosis. He also specializes in treating pelvic pain syndromes such as levator Ani syndrome, proctalgia fugax, coccydynia, and chronic anal fissures resulting from hypertonic sphincter complex or traumatic pelvic injuries.

The services offered at Dr. McGee’s lab are comprehensive, covering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic options. These include Anorectal Manometry, Rectal sensation and Compliance testing, Intra-rectal pressure studies, Pelvic floor EMG, Pudendal nerve testing, Balloon expulsion testing, Water retention testing, and various forms of pelvic floor rehabilitation. Dr. McGee employs techniques such as therapeutic exercises, myofascial releasing, pelvic muscle down training, E-stim for sensory and motor facilitation, electro galvanic stimulation, and Biofeedback.
