Dr. Andrew Gillihan has been working in the field of physical therapy and strength and conditioning since 2011. He started his career as a physical therapy aide after completing his Associate Degree at a local community college in Olympia, WA. In 2014, he returned to his hometown of Boise, Idaho to pursue his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science at Boise State University.

During his time at Boise State, Dr. Gillihan obtained certifications as a National Strength & Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist. His interest in communication and psychology led him to pursue a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology, focusing on Sports & Exercise Psychology at Boise State University.

Throughout his graduate studies, Dr. Gillihan conducted research on various topics such as learning with mobile technology, concussion awareness, international physical activity guidelines, and motor learning & autism. As part of his final project, he created and supervised the Bronco Fitness Challenge and Older Adults Strength Training Program.

After completing his Master’s Degree, Dr. Gillihan furthered his education by pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. During this time, he assisted faculty in research focusing on population health, social determinants of health, and myofascial release techniques with police officers suffering from chronic pain.

Dr. Gillihan has gained clinical experience in various areas including pediatrics, acute care, outpatient sports, orthopedics, and male pelvic health. As a performance physical therapist, he specializes in treating individuals from all walks of life such as gym-goers, weight lifters, runners, youth athletes, combat athletes, and tactical professionals like service members, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, and EMTs.

Driven by a desire to help clients and patients achieve their goals, Dr. Gillihan is dedicated to using his knowledge of orthopedics, sports, and male pelvic health physical therapy to provide the best possible care. He understands the importance of a patient-centered approach and encourages individuals to schedule an appointment for any injuries, aches, or pains they may have.

Dr. Gillihan holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Arkansas State University, a Master of Kinesiology degree with a behavioral emphasis from Boise State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology, also from Boise State University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has certifications in Dry Needling and Male Pelvic Floor Function, Dysfunction, and Treatment.
