Dr. Charisse Balance, a licensed physical therapist in California, has always been captivated by the intricate relationship between the body and mind. This fascination drove her to pursue a dual undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology and Psychology from UC Davis, as well as a doctorate in Physical Therapy from Azusa Pacific University.
Throughout her extensive career, Dr. Balance has gained valuable experience in treating patients with chronic pain. She discovered that addressing the pelvic floor is often the missing piece of the puzzle in providing effective treatment. Recognizing the interconnected role played by the pelvic floor in mind-body interactions, she focuses on treating the muscles in this area to comprehensively address her patients’ symptoms.
In 2015, Dr. Balance obtained her yoga certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). She further specialized in Restorative and Yin yoga, as well as trauma-informed yoga practices. By combining her expertise in yoga and physiotherapy, she empowers her clients to develop physical awareness, minimize the risk of injuries, and prevent future issues.
Dr. Balance commonly treats various conditions, including peripartum conditions such as perineal preparation for birth, assessing optimal birthing positions to reduce the risk of perineal tearing, and providing safe movement and exercise recommendations postnatal. She is also experienced in addressing diastasis recti, C-section scar release, incontinence, pain management (including coccyx, groin, SI, genital, vulvar, and perineal pain), sexual dysfunction (such as pain with orgasm or inability to tolerate penetration), and bladder conditions (including urinary incontinence, urgency and frequency, and incomplete emptying and retention).
With her vast knowledge and compassionate approach, Dr. Charisse Balance strives to help her clients improve their physical well-being and regain control over their bodies.
