Athena, a physical therapist with over two decades of experience, has been serving the Valley community since 1996. Throughout her career, she has gained valuable expertise in various healthcare settings, including inpatient care, skilled nursing, hospice, acute rehabilitation, and outpatient physical therapy. It was during her work in these diverse environments that Athena witnessed a significant need for physical therapy to address pelvic floor issues in women, such as incontinence, prolapse, and pain.
Realizing the impact these problems had on women’s lives, Athena dedicated herself to finding effective, non-surgical treatment approaches. She became proficient in behavior modification education, EMG biofeedback, electrical stimulation, and pelvic floor exercises. Through these methods, Athena collaborates closely with her female patients, helping them address pelvic floor muscle dysfunction and make meaningful improvements that enhance their overall quality of life.
Athena’s commitment to her patients’ well-being led her to pursue comprehensive education, training, and testing in the field of pelvic floor dysfunction. As a testament to her expertise, she has earned the esteemed Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy (CAPP) from the Section on Women’s Health of the American Physical Therapy Association. Additionally, Athena has received Board Certification in Biofeedback for Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction (BCB-PMD) from the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, as well as Board Certification Specialization in Women’s Health from the American Physical Therapy Association.
With her vast experience, specialized certifications, and compassionate approach, Athena is dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to women seeking help with their pelvic floor issues.
