Alyssa Itzkowitz, PT, DPT, PCES has been working as a pelvic health physical therapist in a hospital-based outpatient clinic since 2014. Originally from Vernon, she currently resides there, conveniently close to her workplace. Alyssa earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science from the University of Hartford in 2009, and later obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the same institution in 2012. In 2018, she took the lead in establishing the pelvic health program at Rockville General Hospital, where she now practices alongside two other pelvic health physical therapists. Their clinic provides personalized, one-on-one treatments for all patients, including 90-minute pelvic health evaluations, as well as 30 or 60-minute follow-up sessions tailored to each client’s needs.

In addition to her clinical work, Alyssa serves as a teaching assistant with the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. In this role, she teaches pelvic floor therapists how to perform external and internal pelvic assessments and treatments. While her primary focus is on pelvic floor diagnoses, Alyssa also treats general orthopedic diagnoses on a case-by-case basis. She is passionate about clinical instruction, accepting 2-3 students each year from the University of Hartford, Springfield College, and the University of Connecticut.

Among the various diagnoses she treats, Alyssa particularly enjoys working with patients experiencing pelvic pain, painful vaginal penetration, pregnancy and postpartum-related issues, and helping individuals return to exercise. To stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in her field, she dedicates extensive hours to continuing education. Recently, she completed the Pregnancy & Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist certification. Alyssa also welcomes the challenge of working with medically complex patients. If you are uncertain whether your diagnosis falls within her expertise, she encourages you to reach out for further guidance.

Outside of her professional life, Alyssa finds joy in working out, spending quality time with her boyfriend, best friends, and family, as well as cooking, traveling, and playing with her new family puppy, Coco.
