Alex Trevino, a native of the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas, has dedicated himself to helping people through pelvic floor therapy. After earning his doctorate of physical therapy from Texas State University in 2018, which included specialized training in pelvic health, he established the first hospital-based outpatient pelvic floor therapy program in south Texas. With over 5 years of experience treating patients and delivering presentations on pelvic floor therapy to healthcare professionals and the community, Alex has become a leading figure in the field.

In 2018, Alex also took the initiative to raise awareness about prostate cancer in the community. The hospital now sponsors annual September events aimed at providing outreach, screenings, and other beneficial activities for patients, their families, healthcare providers, and the community. Alex takes great pride in helping individuals overcome pelvic floor dysfunction, including conditions such as urinary/fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, urgency, frequency, pelvic organ prolapse, incomplete emptying, poor/weak stream, constipation, symptoms from prostate cancer, dyspareunia, interstitial cystitis, groin pain, prostatitis, and post-void dribble.

Alex is an active member and advocate for the Texas Chapter of APTA since 2015, as well as the APTA section of Pelvic Health. He continues to pursue professional development through continuing education with the Herman and Wallace Institute. In 2021, Alex obtained his Pelvic Rehab Practitioner Certification after three years of clinical practice in pelvic floor therapy, extensive training, and delivering presentations to other healthcare providers and the community.

When he’s not helping patients, Alex enjoys playing the violin, playing basketball, exercising, supporting the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs, attending church, and spending quality time with friends and family.
